GLORY.3
2020, 24 x 30 inches, Acrylic on Canvas
Her story: “The same Creator that spoke the sun, the moon, the stars into existence handcrafted you. You are divine design. Now, more than ever, know who you are. Know Who you belong to. May you outgrow your physical circumstances. May you be more yourself than you’ve ever been.
Glory.”
-Shannon Scates

GLORY.1
2019, 24 x 30 inches, Acrylic on Canvas
Her story: “Life is lived from the inside out. And inside, you are glorious and limitless. You have infinite boundary. You can look up to the heavens and marvel, because it is your truest reflection. Limitless. Infinite. Glorious.”
-Nicole Williams

GLORY.2
2019, 24 x 30 inches, Acrylic on Canvas
Her story: “This isn’t the first time in history where Black people have need of looking back to trace their present in order to grasp their future. And not just any future. Especially not the one forced upon us by those who remain ignorant of who we really are. Dare I say even our own kind who buy into “ignorance is bliss” as a way of keeping peace and pursuing self-made happiness. Have you looked within lately? What do you see? … We will see the greatest work of all: creation no longer groaning for its sons and daughters to emerge. “
-Shena Smith

ENERGY.2
2019, 24 x 30 inches, Acrylic on Canvas
Her story: “In becoming more conscious of the content of my thoughts day-to-day, I realize I spend most of my time…time traveling. I’m replaying and re-feeling something that happened to me already or wondering/worrying about something that hasn’t happened yet and may never happen. I’ve begun this process of graciously bringing myself back to right now AND I HAVE TO DO THAT LIKE 5000 TIMES A DAY…but it’s cool lol. It’s time for me to extend the mercy and forgiveness to myself that I seemed to only reserve for others. I’m tough on me…transforming that energy.”
-Shannon Scates

ENERGY.3
2019, 24 x 30 inches, Acrylic on Canvas
Her story: “I know for certain that maintaining my connection to my Source and keeping my perception straight is key to walking in my purpose. When I am not aligned, I struggle to create and I focus my attention on the wrong things. Energy follows attention. I’m paying more attention to what I consume…with all of my senses. I’m questioning everything. Building this energy…protecting this energy.”
-Shannon Scates

ENERGY.1
2019, 24 x 30 inches, Acrylic on Canvas
Her story: “Energy cannot be created or destroyed. Everything that is…always was. I feel a connectedness calling me that is simultaneously foreign and familiar. This is what I prayed for. I’m on my way to me.”
-Shannon Scates
