It is about creating the space for yourself to germinate and grow. Here, we are doing that by any creative means necessary. My hope is that you leave better than you came.

Hello! I am Shannon Scates, I am from P.G. County, MD, and I am a self-taught artist with a passion to use my creative abilities to inspire my community…myself…the world…to vibrate higher through vibrant color and sharing our stories. My current focus is highlighting the beauty and complexity of black women with a viewpoint towards growth and healing for all. The subject matter for each series I create is inspired by what I’m going through personally or things I am observing in the world around me. I like my art bright, bold and easy to digest. I provide context by accompanying each piece with its own story. It’s about the art of conversation. It’s about authenticity and transparency. These are healing components. The artwork is simply an illustration to a more meaningful story — yours and mine. I also LOVE gardening and enjoy pretty much anything involving design.

The art studio experiences include workshops, events, therapeutic art services, and creative campaigns geared toward growth and healing. There is great intention behind every experience.
